Today, my parents and I met with Dr. James W. Melisi at 8 AM in his office. I brought a basket of goodies from Best Buns Bakery for Dr. Melisi and his office as a thank you gift for successful brain biopsy surgery on 12/10/04.

We happened to catch Dr. Melisi as he walked into his office. I had a hard copy of my MRI (above) in hand for review. As Dr. Melisi walked in, we mentioned that we were going to meet with Dr. Patrick J. Kelly in New York City on 1/5/05 about possible brain surgery to remove as much of my tumor as possible.
With his hands full of papers and in the middle of the front lobby, surrounded by patients and caregivers, Dr. Melisi said something to the effect that we should not "waste our time" pursuing this -- surgery on my tumor is not possible because of the location of my brain tumor.
This was hastily told to us and Dr. Melisi was in somewhat of a scramble to get into his office. The exchange was awkward, public, and not well received -- especially by my Mom. I had the sense that Dr. Melisi just pushed one of her buttons, because she does not like being told that something cannot be done.
Our following meeting was extremely short, resulting in Dr. Melisi telling me that I will now be discharged from his care. A letter to this effect will be issued within the week.
