High-Level Journal Summary: Taking a deeper look at what we have accomplished in 2008 so far. Our biggest accomplishments have all dealt with:
• Moving to a new video server. This took 6 months to complete.
• Moving to a new server, without having to share with 40 other servers. This took 2 months to complete.
• Moving to a new e-mail server. This just started and should only take one month to complete, maximum.
With the first two completed, we are in the middle of moving the last item, moving to the new e-mail server. Once that is done, we will have so much to work with, as expected. It has been much work to get here, but we are in good shape. What great merchandise we will now have for the next year.
Countdowns:
1.) Day 12 of 28 in Cycle 1 of the Avastin + Enzastaurin Clinical Trial at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
2008 Seizure Activity:
1.) Last Simple Partial Seizure, or SPS, was 11 days ago.
2.) In 2008, I have had 80 SPS's in 267 days. This is an average of 1 SPS every 3.3 days.
Actual Journal: I am now in a place where the amount of things happening in the world of 38 Lemon is slanting greatly. I think it is time to start ramping up to get help from people who offer and who are in positive position to help. I am no longer in position to do everything myself, by any measure.
The greatest device yet
I wish that I had a device which could take all the thoughts in my head and transfer them to paper. There may be such a device which exists, but I do not have one in my overall possession.
I need to ask my overall doctor about how they keep up with all their dictation. Do they just talk into an overall computer and later have that transcribed into my current file? When I get my overall files from all my doctors, they have a lot information packed into it. No way they were able to sit down and type it all up. They must have dictated into a machine, which was then typed up by another person. I think that it is time for me to do the same thing. I need help in order to keep up with volume. That is the best thing for me. Better processes are definitely needed.
Good things happening
I know that it is late in 2008, but SO much has gotten done in this small year so far. Here is my short list so far:
1.) Moving to the new Highwinds server to manage all our videos took about 6 months total time, mainly because of issues on our side. We had to learn in this new area. What a treat to have this in place, finally! Now, we can exploit the heck out of this capability. Amen.
2.) We are now on a new dedicated server instead of sharing it with others. Whew. That makes 38 Lemon that much stronger than ever before. We can only celebrate this victory.
3.) We are moving from the old server to the new one for e-mails. This will once again be a celebration that is coming up once again. I believe that this is the last major achievement we are trying to make in 2008. We will hit this mark, starting this month and moving into October 2008.
Conclusion
With all these 3 things accomplished, we will be in great shape for 2009. I knew from my software world that all these things would take much time to accomplish. There was no doubt that this would happen. But, what does that leave open in 2009?
• Lots of space for doing many new things in the world of brain cancer.
• Lots of room for making more people aware.
• Lots of room for making more people aware of brain cancer at an earlier time.
I love these signs. They are terrific markers for what can be done in 2009. No matter what anyone says, these are terrific markers for what we can collectively do to help others.
Helping in this mess is about the best we can do, and that can only help us the most as we try to live as long as we can.
