Dr. Dipti Patel, my local oncologist and hematologist. I met Dr. Patel at about 3 AM or so on 6/29/05. This is when I was rushed to the Emergency Room at Inova Fairfax Hospital once again. This time, it was because I had experienced two post-surgical grand mal seizures. Dr. Patel was at the hospital that morning and helped me through this emergency. Despite vomiting for her when I arrived at the hospital, we bonded! Seriously, Dr. Patel immediately did blood checks to understand my seizure medication levels, among other things. I now come to Dr. Patel’s office at least every two weeks. Dr. Patel’s bi-weekly monitoring of my blood levels and Temodar chemotherapy treatment is then fed directly to Dr. Howard A. Fine and his neuro-oncology team at the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
