1 day after brain surgery. The NYU medical team needed "untainted" views of my reactions to surgery, so NO pain medications were allowed for about 1 day. The pain only went away when I was asleep, so being asleep was a gift. It really hurt, otherwise. That's okay - it is part of the process to wellness.
